Misos Story: A tiny kitten with an enormous heart

Some animals leave a lasting imprint on our hearts, no matter how short their time with us. Miso was one of those souls—her story is one of love, resilience, and a reminder to cherish every moment.

Miso arrived at Habitat 4 Paws in October 2024, just five weeks old, full of life and personality. She was the sweetest kitten you could ever meet, capturing hearts instantly with her affectionate nature. When she first came into our care, she tested negative for FIV but had a mild upper respiratory infection.

As months passed, Miso’s illness lingered and new challenges arrived within her body. Despite medications and veterinary care, she began experiencing recurring fevers, and her little body struggled to fight off the illness. On February 9th, after continued weakness, Miso was retested for FIV—and this time, the results were positive, showing her original test was a false negative.

Miso spent four days in the emergency vet’s care before returning home to spend her final days in the place she loved most—surrounded by her foster mom and kitty friends. She was given every ounce of love and comfort, but her tiny body could no longer fight. On February 16th, Miso took her last breath, cradled in love, as her foster mom reminded her of how proud she was of her.

Miso, you may be gone, but your spirit lives on. We know you’re making biscuits and stealing hearts across the Rainbow Bridge, just as you did here. You never met a soul—human or animal—who didn’t love you instantly. And to those of us lucky enough to have known you, your short life was a gift we will cherish forever.

Run free, sweet Miso. You will always be loved.
